For Nigeria today, e be like say our security wahala don reach another level entirely. From Plateau to Benue, from Kaduna to Niger State, innocent people dey die almost every day for the hands of bandits, terrorists, and unknown gunmen. But one man wey don tire of all these nonsense na Pastor Ayo Omobude, the former President of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN).
Pastor Omobude recently yarn something wey dey pain many of us: "These killers are not invincible, and government must act decisively." My people, this statement hit different because na true talk be that!
Make we no dey deceive ourselves - the security situation for Nigeria don bad pass what we fit imagine. Just last month alone, we don count over 200 deaths from various attacks across the country. From the renewed killings in Plateau State where entire communities dey get wiped out, to the kidnapping wahala for Kaduna-Abuja highway where people dey fear to travel, e clear say something must give way.
Pastor Omobude talk am straight: "Government cannot continue to fold its arms while citizens are being slaughtered like chickens." This man no dey mince words at all, and honestly, many Nigerians dey feel the same way.
The thing be say, religious leaders like Pastor Omobude no just dey complain. They don come up with specific solutions wey government fit implement:
You go wonder why pastors and imams suddenly dey talk politics and security matters. The answer simple - their members dey die! Churches and mosques don become targets for these criminals. Just remember the St. Francis Catholic Church massacre for Owo, Ondo State, where over 40 people die during Sunday service.
Bishop Matthew Kukah of Sokoto Diocese also don join the conversation, saying "Government must stop treating symptoms and address the root causes of insecurity." These religious leaders see firsthand how their congregations dey suffer, so they no get choice than to speak truth to power.
Pastor Omobude also point out something wey many politicians no dey talk about - the economic cost of insecurity. "When farmers cannot go to their farms, when travelers dey fear to move freely, when businesses dey relocate because of insecurity, the entire economy go suffer," he talk.
Na true talk be that! For places like Zamfara, Katsina, and parts of Niger State, farming activities don reduce by over 60% because farmers dey fear for their lives. How we wan feed ourselves if people no fit farm?
The question now be: wetin government dey do about all these recommendations? While security agencies dey try their best with limited resources, e clear say we need more decisive action.
Some governors like Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State and Babagana Zulum of Borno State don show that with proper strategy and political will, insecurity fit reduce drastically. But we need coordinated national approach, not just state-by-state solutions.
Pastor Omobude conclude by saying: "These criminals no be spirits. They chop food, they use vehicles, they buy fuel, they communicate with phones. If government really want catch them, dem go catch them." This na the kind of straight talk wey we need for Nigeria today.
As we dey face this security challenge, religious leaders dey remind us say we no suppose lose hope. But hope alone no go solve the problem - we need action from government, and we need am now!
The blood of innocent Nigerians wey don waste because of insecurity dey cry for justice. Government must hear the voice of religious leaders and act decisively. After all, the primary responsibility of any government na to protect lives and property of its citizens.
Make we continue to pray for Nigeria, but let government also do their own part. Because as Pastor Omobude talk am, these killers no be invincible!
