The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced plans to conduct mop-up examinations for candidates who were unable to participate in the recently concluded Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). This development brings renewed hope to thousands of candidates whose academic progression faced potential delays.
According to the announcement, the mop-up examination specifically targets candidates who were absent from their scheduled examinations due to genuine and verifiable reasons. JAMB emphasized that only candidates with legitimate grounds for absence would be considered eligible for this opportunity.
"The Board recognizes that certain circumstances beyond candidates' control may have prevented them from sitting for their examinations as initially scheduled," stated a JAMB official. "This mop-up exercise ensures that such candidates are not unfairly disadvantaged in their academic journey."
JAMB has outlined specific categories of candidates who qualify for the mop-up examination:
"It's important to note that this opportunity is not extended to candidates who simply failed to appear for their examinations without valid reasons," the Board clarified.
The Board has implemented a thorough verification process to ensure that only genuinely affected candidates benefit from this opportunity. Candidates are required to provide supporting documentation to validate their claims.
The mop-up examination is scheduled to hold across designated centers nationwide, with specific dates to be communicated directly to eligible candidates through their registered email addresses and phone numbers.
JAMB reiterated its commitment to maintaining the integrity of the examination process, emphasizing that the same strict standards and protocols would apply during the mop-up exercise.
"While we understand the importance of accommodating candidates with legitimate reasons for absence, we remain vigilant against any attempts to compromise the credibility of our examination," the Board stated.
